Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) is pleased to announce the annual Virtual Careers Fair (VCF) will be taking place 22-31 March 2010.
Now in its tenth year, the VCF has evolved from an event originally developed by the University of New England primarily for regional university students, to the global event run by GCA today. The VCF is the largest online graduate employment event in Australia. The 2009 VCF attracted more than 13,000 visitors from across Australia, New Zealand and internationally.
The VCF technology has also evolved, and next year the event will be hosted on a new platform that gives students and employers a truly virtual experience. Students can explore interactive Expo Halls by discipline, visit Exhibitor Booths, attend pre-recorded employer presentations in the Conference Centre, and download career-related material from the Resource Library. They will even be able to chat live one-on-one with employers and university career advisors – all from their computers!
Employers who have previously participated in the VCF will of course want to know: how will the VCF be different next year?
Stuff that will stay the same:
- Employers will still have a profile including company information, graduate program details, application processes, website link, PDFs and videos.
- Employers will be able to host a 45-minute group chat session in the Conference Centre.
- The VCF will still be open for a “preview” week (no live chats) so that students can visit and see which employers will be exhibiting, check out the chat timetable, and download resources.
Just some of the NEW stuff:
- It LOOKS like a virtual event – visitors enter via an Expo Foyer, there are Expo Halls, and exhibitors can choose their Booth design.
- The “live” event is over a shorter period – three days: 29-31 March. ·
- Booths:
- Look like real booths! Employers can choose from eight booth designs.
- Feature slideshows, rotating text and an announcements area.
- Students can subscribe to employer newsletters and enter competitions – employers have access to data collected.
- ONE-ON-ONE chat with booth staff – via text, voice or webcam! o Booth content can be changed by the exhibitor anytime.
- Chats: students can pre-register for group chats and receive an email reminder the day before AND an SMS reminder one hour prior to the scheduled chat time.
- Presentations: Employers can pre-record a video presentation, which can be viewed by students in the Conference Centre.
